… to the place where one can see the whole world in miniature.
– Gotthold Ephraim Lessing
I have been to Leipzig for a short weekend trip.
It is a very nice city, very concentrated in the center as it seems and with a lot of old buildings.
Most of the people were in the hub and as soon as one got a bit further away, Leipzig seemed dead. This wasn’t bad though, it was peaceful and quiet so the city’s atmosphere was able to sink in. 🙂
The food at Auerbachs Keller was good, they even served although no one else was at the restaurant at 4pm. It made me think a lot about my old German lessons in school. Lessing, Schiller and Goethe, especially Faust.
I expected the people there to have the worst accent one can find in Germany. Unfortunately I didn’t hear it at all. Everyone I spoke to spoke in high German. I guess I’ll have to get back to hear it! I’ll probably have to talk to some uncle or auntie 🙂 hehe
