I promised my dear friend Izzy in Amsterdam that I would visit her this year after we had such an awesome time in London last year at exchange — and in mid-November I finally made it!
I went via direct train from Frankfurt to Amsterdam (very comfy train, time passes so fast! highly recommendable and way cheaper than flight or driving by oneself 🙂 )
I arrived on Saturday Noon and first of all we explored Amsterdam — I thought Izzy knew her way, hence I didn’t bring any map. Well, she lives a bit further out and had no idea where was what, so it happened that we got lost several times. It was awesome nevertheless and next time I’m sure I won’t bring a map again just to not miss out that fun we had getting lost and finding our way back!
Later that evening we met Achim who happened to be there with a bunch of friends that weekend as well, so again it was a little London reunion. I’m really losing track of count but I don’t mind. I love London reunions. 🙂
We walked also through the red light district when it got darker and I thought it was pretty disturbing. Not the fact that the half naked women were standing in the behind huge glass windows, but the fact that some of them looked below 16 years old and the most disturbing factor was families walking through the street with their about 4 year old kids. What the hell were they thinking???
I also didn’t like the smell of pot everywhere. I wasn’t really able to distinguish that smell from others before but now I am very sure when I smell it. I cannot stand it. haha.
Later in the night we went clubbing with Achim’s friends, it surely reminded me of going clubbing with them in London. Sometimes I really miss an evening like we used to have there several nights a week, but then I think it was that time and it’s good that it’s over. Weird, right?
Below is a little selection of the photos I shot in Amsterdam 🙂 It’s a beautiful city, and because of all the water (yes, it was also raining but I mean the canals!) it reminded me of Venice in a clean state ^^
